Our eyes tell everything and everyone wants to be looked in the eye. Our eyes hold all of our truths and wisdom. We should always want to draw attention to our eyes not push it away. Sadly, our eyes are one part of the body that begins aging sooner rather than later. Our eyes can really take on the burden aging and that burden is known as Crow’s Feet.
In order to understand Crow’s Feet, we must understand aging process of our skin. Collagen is the main structural protein in our skin that consists of amino acids. It is derived from the Greek word kola which means glue. The aging process in most cases starts around age 35, although many factors can make it happen much younger. Additional forces that contribute to aging are sun, smoking, alcohol, diet and of course, genetics. At this time our collagen levels begin to decrease from the top layer of our skin which is called the Epidermis. Typically, by age 45 the collagen levels have decreased by approximately 25%.
Other factors may contribute to Crow’s Feet and they are anything causes you to crinkle your eyes such as laughing, smiling, frowning, squinting and even sleeping on your side basically things that we all do every day. The skin around our eyes is very delicate and needs a lot of care and attention.
Simple home remedies that can temporarily reduce Crow’s Feet when going out for a special occasion are:
Cucumbers: Simply slice the cucumber about ½ inch think, lie down and place a slice over each eye for about 10 minutes and wash with warm water. The ascorbic acid, B5 and B6 in cucumbers helps release water nourish the skin.
Lemon Juice: Rub a little fresh squeezed lemon juice on the side of your eyes, leave for 10 minutes and was off with warm water. The citric acid in the lemon as an exfoliant.
